Smart Analytics and Intelligent Solutions Become Vital for Manufacturing Businesses

Leaders in the Manufacturing sector have been turbocharging their Digital Transformation initiatives to effectively deal with the unpredictability, demand issues, and business complexities of the new normal. While achieving these goals, they are extensively leveraging Data analytics, AI, IoT, and Cloud, to transform manufacturing and solve some of the complex real-world business challenges. Technology is, therefore, the biggest driver for innovation in the Manufacturing Sector and in enabling them to forecast and make intelligent decisions in today’s changing landscape.

At the recent edition of ‘Digital Leaders Club’ curated by CORE Media and powered by Google Cloud India, CIOs from manufacturing businesses and Google Cloud India executives discussed CIOs and tech leaders, who shared how the cloud is enabling them in their digital transformation journey - whether it is to build applications & experiences faster, enable smarter decision-making, to connect & collaborate.

Anoop Mathur, Founder - CORE Media, opened the discussion by talking about how manufacturing businesses are enthusiastic about increasing productivity, reducing costs, and eliminating redundancy. Joining Mr. Mathur as a co-host in this discussion was Mr. Rajesh Shewani from Google Cloud. The key points highlighted by the CXOs and digital leaders from the BFSI sector attending the discussion were as follows:-

  • CIOs in the Manufacturing verticals are looking at leveraging the Cloud and related technologies for their digital journeys. However, a common pain point across most manufacturing enterprises is that they have their factories and plants in remote locations and connectivity issues hamper their ability to fully leverage the benefits of the Cloud. While IIoT is effective in predictive maintenance, employee safety, and optimal inventory levels analysis, leveraging it without any downtime is a challenge for most manufacturers.
  • Most manufacturing companies are working with on-premise SAP applications. Moving the legacy applications and non-SAP servers to Cloud requires them to weigh parameters like scalability, efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, CIOs and digital leaders face hurdles while managing complex business processes and data and hiring employees with the right technical Skills.
  • Analytics and forecasting remain the focal points for leveraging Cloud. Manufacturing CIOs seek solutions and cloud partners for their future plans that include implementing IoT, image recognition, analytics, and digital supply chain to accomplish innovation, sustainability, and smart manufacturing. The ultimate goal of smart manufacturing for business leaders is to become more agile and build a productive industrial base.
