The Healthcare & Lifesciences Sector Considers the Adoption of Cloud Services to be a Game-Changer

The last decade witnessed a sea change in the Healthcare and Life-sciences sector. The leaders have recognized and emphasized the strategic value of technology solutions for efficiently and effectively managing clinical workflows, and patient outcomes from data analytics, remote monitoring technologies, etc.

Although the Cloud presents compelling benefits for the healthcare industry, CIOs are searching for solutions that integrate with current systems, adhere to compliance and quality assurance standards, and improve data integrity and service dependability. Digital transformation is inevitable, and it brings with it AI-based decision-making, patient-focused digital healthcare, and data-driven insights as fundamental elements.

At the recent edition of ‘Digital Leaders Club’ curated by CORE Media and powered by Google Cloud India, CIOs from the manufacturing businesses and Google Cloud India executives discussed the different aspects of how digitization is making rapid advancements in the sector and what are the new use cases that will be introduced in the near future.

Anoop Mathur, Founder - CORE Media, started the conversation by talking about businesses in the healthcare and life sciences sector embracing cutting-edge technologies. However, there is still a considerable challenge in terms of the adoption of new technologies due to security issues and how CIOs can resolve these challenges.

Joining Mr. Mathur as a co-host in this discussion was Ruchir Seth from Google Cloud. The key points highlighted by the CXOs and digital leaders from the BFSI sector attending the discussion were as follows:-

  • CIOs in healthcare and life sciences see the cloud as a major leverage for their digital journeys. While cost optimization and reduction are key components, CIOs are looking for cloud partners who can work with them closely on their digital roadmap.
  • CIOs emphasized that the roadblocks in their modernization strategy are data security, audit, compliance, moving core licenses onto the cloud, and the total cost of adopting, operating, and provisioning cloud infrastructure. A GXP-compliant cloud model would help them fast-track their journey and cloud leverage.
  • CIOs have identified the need for Cloud solutions that support R&D, drug development, managing patents, and identifying other sources of data that can generate potential business value.
