Maximizing the Benefits of Cloud Technology: Considerations for SAP Application Migration

In the current business landscape, the cloud has become a major catalyst for digital transformation and innovation. Organizations are increasingly adopting cloud technologies to not only reduce their on-premises footprint and related costs but also to become more agile, connected, and data-driven. Successfully migrating critical business systems to the cloud is a significant milestone in this journey toward digital transformation.

As cloud adoption becomes a critical component of enterprise strategy, it is imperative for businesses to move their SAP applications to the cloud rapidly. However, this is a complex decision that requires careful consideration and planning. CIOs must ensure that they make the most appropriate decisions for this mission-critical move. They must carefully evaluate their options, considering factors such as security, scalability, and compliance. By taking a strategic approach to SAP cloud migration, businesses can unlock the full potential of the cloud and realize significant benefits in terms of cost savings, agility, and innovation.

At the recent edition of ‘Digital Leaders Club’ curated by CORE Media and powered by Google Cloud India, CIOs from different business verticals and Google Cloud India executives discussed the different aspects of how digitization is making rapid advancements in the BFSI sector and what are the new use cases that may be introduced in the near future.

Anoop Mathur, Founder - CORE Media, started the conversation by talking about businesses in the healthcare and life sciences sector embracing cutting-edge technologies. However, there is still a considerable challenge in terms of the adoption of new technologies due to security issues and how CIOs can resolve these challenges. Joining Mr. Mathur as co-hosts in this discussion were Rohit Verma and Vaibhav Gawde from Google Cloud. The key points highlighted by the CXOs and digital leaders from the BFSI sector attending the discussion were as follows:-

  • To mitigate unpredictable workloads, scalability remains a priority for CIOs while moving their enterprise applications to the cloud.
  • With huge amounts of data being generated by diversified businesses and conglomerates, CIOs are keen on adopting robust data storage solutions equipped with AI/ML and smart analytics for better decision-making.
  • Although businesses have definite plans to move their applications to the cloud in the near future, cost optimization is a major concern for CIOs.
