Harnessing the Power of Cloud for Sustainable Growth and Innovation

Cloud adoption has been an important part of digital transformation for the past few years. However, many businesses are now realizing that all their intended benefits may not have accrued through a public cloud deployment alone, the reasons for which could be many - from spiraling costs to ever-evolving complexities to niggling security & compliance issues.

Businesses are now exploring different strategies starting with a critical assessment of their workloads and virtual machine sprawl to optimize their cloud presence to help alleviate such operational challenges.

CORE Media arranged a closed door session for technology leaders and Tata Communications leadership to discuss insights and strategies for secure cloud adoption for continued business growth.  The session also focused on understanding the challenges faced by a target set of top CIOs in building a robust cloud adoption strategy.

Anoop Mathur, Founder, CORE Media initiated the conversation with Rajesh Awasthi, VP & Business Head - Cloud & Hosting Services, Tata Communications by discussing cloud and on-premises infrastructure and the need for a robust environment in today’s digital world.

The session gave insights to the current challenges faced by enterprises like dealing with change management, vendor lock-in, skills gaps, and finding right solution partners. CIOs are looking to move their workloads either to a private cloud or leverage an on-premises infrastructure with an aim to achieve better data sovereignty, lower costs, and easy access management.

CIOs are increasingly considering cloud repatriation as a strategic option for addressing specific operational challenges. However, it's not a universal solution and depends on various factors like workload type, compliance needs, and overall IT strategy. While repatriation offers potential benefits, it also comes with challenges like managing on-premises infrastructure and ensuring adequate resources for repatriated workloads. Additionally, the cost-effectiveness of repatriation can vary depending on specific circumstances.
