Businesses are becoming data-driven with SAP applications migration

Cloud has been the biggest accelerator of digital and business transformation for enterprises in the new paradigm. Organizations are extensively leveraging the cloud, not just to reduce their on-premises footprint and the associated cost, but also to grow into more agile, connected, and data-driven entities.

Migrating critical business systems successfully and seamlessly to the cloud is the biggest milestone in this journey. Naturally, it is also imperative for businesses to move their SAP applications to the cloud and move them fast. At the recent edition of ‘Digital Leaders Club’ curated by CORE Media and powered by Google Cloud India, CIOs from diverse industries and Google Cloud India executives discussed the different aspects of how to enable business transformation through SAP on Google Cloud.

Anoop Mathur, Founder - CORE Media, opened the conversation by talking about how SAP has become a business-critical application and the different ways in which businesses are leveraging the cloud to facilitate the use of SAP for their teams. Joining Mr. Mathur as a co-host in this discussion was Mr. Vishwanath Chandru from Google Cloud. The key points highlighted by the CXOs and digital leaders attending the discussion were as follows:-

  • Modernization of core applications such as the SAP system is conceived by the CIOs as a business transformation initiative, rather than a tech project. Google Cloud provides built-in features, like Compute Engine live migration and automatic restart, that will significantly reduce downtime for infrastructure maintenance. Opportunities to innovate with the Google Cloud databases, data analytics, smart analytics, AI and machine learning, and data integration capabilities.
  • Migration of core workloads to the Cloud is driven by more seasoned decisions around business RoI and cost-savings. As a result, organizations can take advantage of cloud-native capabilities and enhance the workload for improved performance and user experience.
  • In their journey to be data and insights-driven entities, enterprises are moving more and more data and apps to the Cloud. With Google Cloud, businesses can combine and access SAP and any other data at a petabyte scale at comparatively lower costs.
