Migrating SAP Applications to the Cloud to Bring Agility and Flexibility to Businesses

Cloud has been the biggest accelerator of digital and business transformation for enterprises in the new paradigm. Organizations are extensively leveraging the cloud, not just for reducing their on-premises footprint and the associated cost, but also to grow into more agile, connected, and data-driven entities.

Migrating critical business systems successfully and seamlessly to the cloud is the biggest milestone in this journey. It is therefore imperative for businesses to move their SAP applications to the cloud, and move them fast. But how CIOs ensure that they take the most appropriate decisions for this mission-critical move is the real point for discussion.

At the recent edition of ‘Digital Leaders Club’ curated by CORE Media and powered by Google Cloud India, CIOs and digital leaders from different industries and Google Cloud India executives discussed how migrating SAP applications to the cloud can help businesses bring agility and transparency in their ecosystems.

Anoop Mathur, Founder - CORE Media, opened the conversation by talking about the need to leverage cloud capabilities for SAP to streamline operations across organizations. Joining Mr. Mathur as a co-host in this discussion were Mr. Vishwanath Chandru and Srimurugan Veluswamy from Google Cloud. The key points highlighted by the CXOs and digital leaders attending the discussion were as follows:-

  • CIOs are open to harnessing the power of the cloud for their SAP workloads. However, migration to the Cloud has critical challenges in terms of investments and complexity and CIOs need transparency and control over the migration costs which can be achieved by continuous monitoring and consulting.
  • As the data volumes are increasing, CIOs are relying on Hyperscalers to ease the migration, upgrade with easy migration tools, run with agility on an all-VM-based architecture, and innovate for results from SAP data.
  • Analytics is pivotal in the digital journey and CIOs are looking for additional easy plug-in features for business use cases that can drive analytics and agility.
