AI-Powered Automation: From Operational Intelligence to Proactive Risk & Governance

CORE Media in association with IBM curated an exclusive closed-door session on ‘AI-Powered Automation: From Operational Intelligence to Proactive Risk & Governance’ in Mumbai.

Anoop Mathur, Founder, CORE Media Group, facilitated the discussion with Ruchika Rattan, Country Leader – Automation Platform, IBM India & South Asia.

The discussion opened with the observation that latency was not a major area of focus just a few years ago but has now become a critical consideration in modern digital and AI-driven environments. However, with the rapid growth of digital services, cloud adoption, AI workloads, and real-time customer expectations, it has emerged as a critical business concern. Organizations today operate in an environment where even milliseconds can influence user experience, operational efficiency, and business outcomes.

As enterprises continue to scale their digital infrastructure, conversations around technology have evolved beyond functionality and cost. Reliability, performance, resilience, and responsiveness have become equally important.

Ruchika presented on the theme, ‘Building the Unified Automation Fabric: Architecture for Resilience and Efficiency’, highlighting how emerging standards such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) are enabling seamless interoperability across LLMs and agentic AI systems, while emphasizing the growing importance of observability in providing end-to-end visibility, accelerating issue resolution, and strengthening operational resilience in modern AI and IT environments.

At the same time, observability has become a critical business capability. Organizations need end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, applications, and networks to quickly identify issues, pinpoint root causes, and minimize business impact. However, siloed monitoring tools often make it difficult for teams to determine where latency or performance bottlenecks originate. This is driving demand for unified observability platforms that provide a single pane of glass across the technology stack.

Automation and resilience are also becoming strategic priorities. As businesses grow increasingly dependent on digital systems, resilient IT infrastructure is essential for ensuring operational continuity and long-term growth. Building resilience starts with secure software development, where security and risk management are embedded from day one.

With software supply chains becoming more complex, organizations must manage risks related to third-party dependencies, open-source components, and code vulnerabilities. Establishing a software bill of materials (SBOM) and adopting a shift-left approach to security enables teams to identify and address risks earlier in the development lifecycle.

Open-source software introduces additional challenges, including vulnerability management, license compliance, certificate policy compliance, and patching automation. Enterprises require automated mechanisms to detect vulnerabilities, enforce compliance policies, manage certificate lifecycles, and accelerate remediation at scale.

A major CIO challenge today is gaining unified visibility and control over risks across hybrid IT environments spanning both cloud and on-premises infrastructure. In this case, IBM Concert helps organizations gain centralized visibility into their technology landscape, manage compliance, and automate remediation across complex IT ecosystems.

Additionally, secure software development emerged as a key concern. Ruchika highlighted IBM Secure Coder as a solution that enables developers to identify vulnerabilities early in the development lifecycle, helping organizations proactively reduce risk and build more secure, resilient applications.
