Rajendra joins the bank from SBM (India) where he served in the same capacity
Scotiabank appoints Rajendra Bhalerao as its CISO for India operations. A security practitioner with more than two decades of experience, Rajendra joins Scotiabank from SBM India where he served as CISO for the last 8 months. Prior to SBM, he was the CISO for Paytm Payments Bank and has served in several roles for brands such as NPCI, IndusInd Bank, Alcatel-Lucent, Mastek, EY, Paladion, etc.
Rajendra comes with diversified experience across industries such as banking, financial services, consulting and telecom. He has spent the last one decade of his career in the BFSI sector as a security leader. During his stint at NPCI, he has played a crucial role in building the cyber security framework for UPI platform.
Rajendra takes charge of security at Scotiabank when information security is top of mind for banks. Based in Mumbai, he will be responsible for driving the bank’s information security initiatives and strategy for its India operations and supporting the global security initiatives.
Rajendra is a Postgraduate from Mumbai University and is CISM certified.
